Abstract





Cultural criticism seeks to interrogation the system of values and norms prevailing in Arab culture by exploring its cultural patterns. It is a modern view of the literary text in light of its relationship and influence on the social reality that is influenced by the society in which the creative texts were born, and consequently influences the reception of these texts, their judgment, and the investigation of the feasibility of their aesthetics from its own point of view. The quest to read literary texts, extract the influence of culture on the text, and attempt to address it through the patterns of cultural criticism is what we sought to achieve in this research. Cultural criticism is a cognitive activity with its own visions, cornerstones, and constants that represent critical mechanisms that can be leans on it in dealt with texts critically and analyzing them.  This study gains its importance from the fact that it deals with a poet who has received a great deal of attention in aesthetic studies, but has not been addressed by cultural criticism; From this criticism, our research into the collection of poems of the Iraqi poet Walid Al-Sarraf, titled: "Shadows of the tree that was uprooted" was launched, starting with knowing the nature of cultural criticism and its nature in order to understand it and benefit from it in theory and application with a specific goal of exploring the manifest and latent patterns in examples from the collection
