يعد سبينوزا من رواد الفلسفة التنويرية في القرن السابع عشر، ويمثل المفهوم الاخلاقي شأنا كبيرا في فلسفته يهدف البحث إلى تحليل تأويل سبينوزا لطبيعة الشر في إطار نظامه الأخلاقي، مع التركيز على البُعد العقلي والمعرفي لهذا التأويل، وتقييم مدى اتساقه الداخلي، وقدرته على تجاوز الثنائية التقليدية بين الخير والشر، دون التفريط في معنى المسؤولية الأخلاقية. ومن أهم الاستنتاجات التي توصل إليها البحث:
يرى سبينوزا أن الشر ليس فعلًا ضد الله أو خرقاً للنظام الأخلاقي، بل ظاهرة نسبية تنشأ من انفصال الإنسان عن وعيه بوحدته مع الكون، وبذلك يصبح الشر ناتجاً عن الجهل وليس عن وجود قوة مستقلة. ويظهر الشر نتيجة هيمنة الانفعالات السلبية التي تُضعف قدرة الإنسان على الفعل الحر، وبذلك يتحول الشر من مفارقة أخلاقية مطلقة إلى مسألة معرفية يمكن معالجتها بالعقل. ومن أهم التوصيات: ضرورة دراسة الشر ليس فقط كظاهرة معرفية أو فلسفية، بل أيضاً كواقع اجتماعي وتاريخي وسياسي، لتوسيع نطاق فهم الأخلاق والعدالة في مواجهة الظلم والتمييز
