The Impact of Qur’anic Recitation Variations on the Interpretation of Ethical Verses Between Human Capabilities and Artificial Intelligence – A Comparative Study

Section: Article

Abstract

Praise be to Allah, who revealed His greatest Book to His Messenger, and chose His servants to carry and convey it. All praise is due to Him. Peace and blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad, his family, and companions.

The science of Qur’anic readings (Qirā’āt) is closely tied to the recitation of Allah’s words, making it a cornerstone of Islamic sciences. Scholars have diligently preserved and transmitted it through memorization, recitation, and interpretation.

Qur’anic readings serve as a source of legislation and guide moral values in society. They promote virtuous behavior and denounce immorality, offering depth to ethical teachings.

This research explores how varying Qur’anic readings impact the interpretation of ethical verses by comparing traditional scholarly interpretations with AI-generated ones. It examines how AI analyzes religious texts and its ability to interpret them, considering the linguistic, rhetorical, and historical context.

The study also identifies AI’s challenges in handling the nuanced differences between readings and its potential role as a supplementary tool in interpretation.

Based on selected ethical verses with variant readings, this research presents examples of AI’s interpretations compared to traditional exegesis. The study concludes by assessing AI’s advantages and limitations in this field and suggests ways to enhance its integration with human efforts.

The research includes an introduction, preface, two main sections, and a conclusion.
