Ethics of the educational guidance profession among educational counselors and the degree of commitment to them in light of some variables
Abstract
The current research aims to identify the ethics of the educational guidance profession among educational counselors and the degree of commitment to it in light of some variables. The research sample consisted of (127) male and female counselors, (67) male counselors and (60) female counselors in Basra Governorate. The research tool was constructed, consisting of (31) paragraphs. The researcher established validity and reliability for it. The evaluation scale was three-dimensional (applies = 3), (sometimes applies = 2), (does not apply = 1). The questionnaire consisted of three areas: the first area (the counselor's relationship with his profession), the second area (the counselor's relationship with his colleagues), and the third area (the counselor's relationship with his community). The results of the study were interpreted after using the statistical package (SPSS). The researcher reached the following results:
1- There are differences according to the gender variable, attributed to the benefit of male counselors.
2- The existence of differences according to years of experience is attributed to the benefit of male guides who have served them for more than 12 years. The researcher reached a set of recommendations, including interest in enriching training programs for guides with professional ethics, as training is an important element in increasing the sensitivity of the guide to ethical matters, which leads to improving the level of ethical performance.
