Abstract
The current study tries to investigate Kurdish EFL students’ perceptions of using the Duolingo application for English language acquisition. Data were collected using a quantitative method. The instrument used for collecting data is a questionnaire. The participants were 70 Kurdish EFL students at Akre University for Applied Sciences. The study’s primary objective is Kurdish EFL students ‘perceptions of using the Duolingo application for learning English language as well as its strengths and limitations. The results indicated that most of the participants have positive attitudes towards Duolingo app, particularly for improving vocabulary and reading skills. Nevertheless, the students reported some limitations, particularly in writing skills and explanation of grammar. In brief, the study concluded that Duolingo is an effective tool, but for better language development, it needs to be used with traditional teaching methods.
