Abstract
The topic of textual thresholds has captured the attention of many scholars due to its significant role in contemporary critical studies. Thresholds have come to serve as a key through which the reader accesses the text, and thus cannot be overlooked by modern and contemporary critics. Over time, many writers began to pay close attention to these thresholds, turning them into a genuine communicative bridge between the paratext and the main body of the literary work. It seems that authors have responded clearly and explicitly to this phenomenon. We have noticed that many writers have started to involve themselves in designing the book cover and other elements accompanying the thresholds, such as the publisher's note and similar features. This reflects the expanding influence of threshold-based critical approaches. In this study, we selected the poetic experience of the Iraqi poet Ahmed Jarallah, with a focus on his collection "The Iraqi Departs" as a practical model that showcases the prominence of threshold phenomena. The research is divided into a theoretical introduction on the concept of thresholds, followed by four main sections: the cover threshold, the dedication threshold, the title threshold, and the introduction threshold. The study concludes with a summary highlighting the key findings.
