Abstract

The research deals with the significance of the general predicate in the poetry of Qais bin Dhurayh, and the role of this predicate in showing the semantic features of the verse, and because Qais’s poetry was not collected in a collection of poems like other poets of his time, so everything that was published under the name (The Diwan of Qays Lubna) or (The Diwan of Qais bin Dhurayh) was All in all, some hadith scholars compiled it based on the poems of Qays scattered throughout the books, most of which do not follow the method of sober investigation. Therefore, we adopted what Dr. Hussein Nassar collected and titled it (Qays and Lubna Poetry and Study); Hussein Nassar's work is sober in its collection, investigation, and study.

The study was divided into two sections. The first section: introducing the vocabulary of the title, and included three demands: the first section: defining the meaning, the second section: defining the general predicate, and the third section: introducing Qais bin Dharih. The second section was entitled: patterns of the general predicate in poetry. Qais bin Dhurayh, and it included two requirements: The first requirement: The predicate is a nominal sentence, and the second requirement: The predicate is a verbal sentence and includes the verbal sentence that is a past tense verb, and which is a present tense verb. We concluded our research with a conclusion that included the most important results we reached
