Abstract
The current research aims to identify (the effectiveness of a proposed teaching strategy based on reception theory in developing critical reading). The researcher adopted an experimental design, as the research population consisted of fourth-year students in the Arabic Language Department, College of Education for Humanities, University of Mosul for the academic year (2023-2024) ( The first semester, the research sample amounted to (69) male and female students, distributed into two groups: an experimental group, which numbered (35) male and female students, and a control group, which numbered (34) male and female students. The researcher rewarded the two research groups in a number of relevant variables, and the researcher prepared The critical reading skills are (4) main skills divided into sub-skills. The researcher also prepared a critical reading test consisting of (21) multiple-choice items. The test was characterized by honesty and stability. The researcher applied the experiment in the first semester of the year (2023-2024). After collecting the data and analyzing it statistically using the necessary statistical methods using the statistical program Spss, the study reached the following results:
