Abstract
Geographic foundations are the basic and important factor for establishing any city or region. Knowing the natural characteristics of the region in terms of geological structure, soil, surface, and climate has a major impact on the establishment of the city, through which the type of construction, agricultural crops, and types of activities that can be established are known. Human characteristics also have a prominent role in knowing The distribution of the region’s population, their type and density. The research aims mainly to know the main geographic foundations (natural and human characteristics) that are included in the Shura district and to highlight their impact on the emergence and development of the study area and the role of natural characteristics in knowing the appropriate construction and the type of crops that can be grown. The research problem focused on knowing what The impact of geographical foundations on the emergence, growth and development of the Shura district. The research reached a number of results, including that the Shura district contains important geological structures and good soil suitable for agriculture, which led to the growth and development of the Shura district.
The Shura district also enjoys a moderate climate, with moderate temperatures most days of the year, seasonal rainfall that peaks in the spring and winter, average wind speeds of up to 5.47 m/s, and a good level of humidity that helped establish services and gather residents there. And the increase in the population in the study area, especially after the year 2020, as the population growth rate increased in 2023, as the number of males increased over females, and the number of rural over urban areas increased at high rates. The number of educational services in the Shura district increased, reaching 55 primary schools and 27 secondary schools. Health services also increased, reaching 17 health centers, and administrative services increased, reaching 12 administrative centers
